Camp Huron offers six weeks of overnight experiences of varying lengths.
Our week-long sessions are geared for children ages 6 – 14, in grades 1 – 8. We gather on Sundays at 4 pm and depart for home on Saturday morning after a celebration of our time together at 10:30 am for about one hour.
We are an Anglican camp so our days are framed with Morning and Evening Prayer, led by cabin groups and staff. We provide opportunities for learning, questions and wondering with our Chaplain during our Journeys sessions. We say grace as a community before all meals and provide bedtime routines with a devotion led by staff that encourages conversation and reflection about our day together and talk of upcoming activities. You do not need to be an Anglican to go to Camp Huron and our Director is more than happy to provide more details around this aspect of camp life.
Cabin groups follow a daily schedule that has been centrally planned in order that they experience a full program , moving from their cabin, to places like the woods, the beach, craft hut, main compound and back again. Time is built in for changing clothing, teeth brushing, clean-up and breaks.
In the evenings we gather as one large group for campfires, skits and entertainment as well as other camp-wide activities.
Camp Huron has a very high return rate for campers. As they return and grow up here, there are opportunities for longer stays like our 2-week Senior Camp for grade 8 graduates and our 3-week Leader in Training Program with a 2-year progression that further develops leadership skills that we have been helping them to form throughout their camp careers.
